Side by Side Farm offers a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, which benefits both local community members and farmers. Shareholders provide farmers funding prior to the growing season, by purchasing a CSA share. In turn, shareholders receive a weekly share of fresh vegetables and herbs, a pick-your-own  area, as well as, we hope, a close connection to the farm. In addition, we offer discounts to shareholders who want to purchase quantity produce for canning, drying, or freezing.

This year the CSA will span 24 weeks, the last week of May through the first week of November. You will receive 22 weeks of vegetables. We will take one week off in June and one in August. We have three pick-ups, the farm, Natural Vibrant health in Hereford and Baltimore Yoga Village in Mt. Washington.

Size and Cost: Larger CSA Share is $600.00 ($27 a week of produce) and includes 8–10 items weekly. Smaller CSA Share is $375.00 ($17 a week of produce) and includes 4-6 items weekly. Both sizes include a pick-your-own garden on the farm for all shareholders to use and many weeks there is a box of extras for the taking. We also offer discounts to shareholders who want to purchase produce for canning, drying, or freezing.  For pickup locations other than the farm, there is a delivery fee of $4.00 a week.

Each week we will strive to provide you with a mix of vegetables and herbs. Weekly shares could include items such as heirloom tomatoes, carrots, arugula, scallions, salad mixes, spinach and potatoes, onions and squash as well as specialties like baby ginger, lemongrass, shiitake, and oyster mushrooms. We pick our produce at its daily peak and give it directly to members within minimal time after harvest.

Currently, we have three pick up sites. You can pick up shares at the farm, at Natural Vibrant Health in Hereford, MD or Baltimore, at Baltimore Yoga Village in Mt. Washington.

We encourage members to think of this farm as part of their community. It is our intention to host two potluck meals and tours at the farm for CSA members, so you can get to know the fields, farmers and other members. We have a pick-your-own patch of flowers, vegetables, and herbs that is just for CSA members and we encourage you to come out and enjoy it. There are also several farm animals to visit with, a big hit with children and adults alike.

This is going to be another exciting year at the farm–we will be experimenting and growing new mushrooms, adding a hoop house and expanding our CSA. We hope you come join us!
